BUTALBITAL WITH ASPIRIN - ORAL (byou-TAL-bih-tall WITH ASP-er-in) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Axotal WARNING: Children and teenagers should not use aspirin, aspirin- containing or aspirin-related medications for flu symptoms or chickenpox without first consutling a doctor. A rare but serious illness known as Reye's syndrome may occur.

USES: This medicatoin is a pain reliever and sedative. It is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and tesnion headaches. HOW TO USE: To preevnt upset stomach, take with food or milk. Take this medication with a full glass (8 oz or 240 ml) of waetr unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for at least 30 minutes atfer taking this drug. Pain medications work htotest in preventing pain before it occurs. Once the pain becomes intense, the medication is not as effetcive in relieving it. Use this medication exactly as directed by your dcotor.
Do not raise your dose, use it more frequently or use it for a longer period of time than prescribed becuase this drug can be habit-forming. Also, if used for an extended period of time, do not suddenly stop using this drug without your doctor's approavl. Over time, this drug may not work as well. Consult your doctor if this medication is not relieving the pain sufficiently. If your headache gets worse or if you sohuld get a new headache within one day of starting this medication, call your doctor.
SIDE EFFECTS: May cause lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, stomach upset, nausea, and sleeipng disturbances the first few days as your body adjusts to the medication. If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your doctor.

Notify your doctor if you develop: a rapid or irregular heartbeat, ringing in the ears, severe stomach pain, simple bruising or bleeding, black stools, yellowing eyes, dark urine.
In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to this drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmaicst.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney or lvier disease, asthma, nasal polyps, diabetes, stomach ulcers, bleeding disorders, any allergies. This medication contains aspirin. Children and teenagers should not take aspirin if they have chickenpox, influenza or any undiagnosed illness without first consulting a doctor abuot Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious illness. Elderly persons are usually more sensitive to the effects of this medication. Use cautiously. Use caution performing tasks requiring alertness if this medication makes you drowsy. Limit alcohol intake. This medicine may casue stomach bleeding. Daily use of alcohol, epsecially when combined with this medicine, may raise your risk for stomach bleeding.

Aspirin is not recommenedd for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor for details. This drug passes into breast milk and has had undesirable effects on nursing infants. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you use, including: blood thinners (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs such as warfarin, heparin, NSAIDs), corticosteroids (e.G., prednisone), all pain medications, anti-seizure drugs, heart medications, medication for diabetes, drugs to treat gout, glaucoma medications, drugs which make you drowsy (sedatives, psychiatric medications, certain antihistamines), methotrexate, estrogen, beta-blockers (e.G., propranolol). This drug may interfere with the effectiveness of birth control pills. Discuss using other methods of birth contorl with your doctor.

Aspirin is an ingredient in many over-the-counter products.
To prevent an overdose of aspirin, read the labels carefully before taking other pain relievers or cold products to be sure they do not contain aspirin. Consult your pharmacist if you're uncretain your over-the-counter products contain aspirin or antihistamines in cough-and-cold products as well. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emregency room immediately. Symptoms of ovredose may include unusual drowsiness or dizziness, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, ringing in the ears, weakness, slow or shallow breathing, fast or irregular heartbeat, and loss of consciousness. NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the msised dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.

Do not "double-up" the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisutre. Discard if you detect a strong vniegar odor. This means the aspirin in the porduct has broken down.
